What is Discover Smart Drive (DSD) Season 2?

From December 5 to 12, 2011 four teams will drive across India in Ford Figos, performing challenging tasks and collecting points and pieces to complete a jigsaw puzzle. The missions range from fun (like persuading at least 20 people to dance at a beach shack) to difficult (making frothy lassi at a roadside dhada), and teams will get points based on how quickly they complete their tasks.

The winning team will get a chance to drive the Figo in Nepal, and go for a helicopter ride over the mighty and scenic Himalayas (depending on weather conditions).

Teams and routes

Team Gaadi: Bunny Punia and Bobby Roy (mentor team):

The duo are auto experts who have participated in numerous rallies around the country and are bringing their enriching experience to DSD Season 2 as mentors to the participants.

They drive from North to West, Jammu-Amritsar-Chandigarh-New Delhi-Jaipur-Jodhpur-Pokhran.

Team Backup Backpackers

Nishant Biswal is a post-graduate student from Kozikode, while Iti Aggarwal works at a production house. Both Iti and Nishant love travelling, music and reading.

They will drive from North to East: Lucknow–Allahabad–Varanasi–Hazaribaug–Durgapur– Kolkata.

Team Bhai Giri

Gunjan Juyal is a software engineer who loves travelling, while twin brother Gaurav hosts TV show for children.

Gunjan and Gaurav Juyal will drive the West to South leg, Mumbai-Pune-Kohlapur-Goa-Kozhikode-Kochi.

Team Geckos

Karn and Kunal are professional mountaineers and spend most of their time in Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. Karn used to work as a journalist and Kunal used to work as a language expert before they quit their jobs to follow their passion.

Karn Kaushik and Kunal Bedarkar will drive from South to East, Chennai-Tirupati-Nellore-Vijaywada-Vishakapatnam-Bhubaneshwar.
